26/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – On 26 October, the European External Action Service launched an online database of arms exports carried out by Member States. This database contains information about the value, destination and type of arms export licences and information on Member States' actual exports for the period 2013–2019, and will be updated annually. The aim, according to the EEAS, is to increase transparency of information. The data within the database, as well as the data contained in the reports adopted annually by the EU Council on arms exports, are provided by Member States. Such a database had been announced by the High Representative of the EU on 15 September (see EUROPE 12560/11). On Twitter, Hannah Neumann (Greens/EFA, Germany), the European Parliament rapporteur on arms exports, welcomed its launch. View the database: https://bit.ly/2J16e2M (CG)
