Interinstitutional agreement on single market programme

23/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the EU and the European Parliament will meet again on Wednesday 28 October for a conclusive interinstitutional meeting on the Single Market Programme 2021-2027. Three major issues remain to be decided: the issue of eligibility to benefit from the programme, the budgetary issue (Parliament wants six billion euros, by creating a new dedicated sub-objective specific to market surveillance - see EUROPE 12177/16), and finally, the age-old question of implementing the programme, either by implementing acts or by delegated act (the latter formula is often the one preferred by Parliament).
