15 Member States call for a European strategy to counter “growing disinformation” on 5G technology

At the initiative of Poland, 15 Member States are asking the European Commission to set up a communication strategy to counter the “growing disinformation” on the harmful effects on public health of electromagnetic fields and 5G technology.

Recalling the strategic importance of the rapid deployment of 5G for the competitiveness of the EU, the signatory countries denounce the increasing acts of vandalism on telecommunication infrastructure perpetrated by anti-5G movements.

However, the signatory countries believe that the “fears” expressed by citizens who oppose 5G technology should be taken seriously. They recognise the importance of continuing scientific research on potential risks to public health in order to provide reliable information.

The signatory countries are as follows: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and Sweden.
