19/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 19 October, the EU Council of Ministers reached a partial general approach on the financial envelope of the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) 2021-2027: €6.1 billion in current prices. The budget under shared management is €5.3 billion (€1.1 billion for Spain, €567 million for France, which comes in second), including, for the outermost regions, €102 million for the Azores and Madeira, €82 million for the Canary Islands and €131 million for Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Mayotte, Réunion and Sint Maarten. The ‘direct and indirect management’ budget (Commission budget) would amount to €797 million. The EU Council and the European Parliament are currently trying to agree on the modalities of the EMFF assistance, in order to reach an overall agreement on this fund.
