05/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – The Secretariat-General of the Council of the EU presented last week to the Working Party on Structural Actions a document, consulted by EUROPE on Friday 2 October, setting out the country-by-country pre-allocation of the envelopes for the Just Transition Fund. Unsurprisingly, Germany (12.9% of the total fund) and Poland (20%) are the two main beneficiaries of the €17.5 billion fund. However, Poland could face a 50% cut in its annual allocation until Warsaw formally commits to a climate-neutral target for 2050, according to an amendment foreseen by both the European Parliament and the EU Council (see other news on ‘Cohesion’).
