The European Commission published on Friday 31 July, for public consultation, its roadmap for amending a draft implementing regulation concerning applications for authorisation, scientific evaluation and authorisation of feed additives (amendment of Regulation (EC) No 429/2008).
The aim is to adapt the existing rules to the provisions of the Regulation on increased transparency and sustainability of scientific assessments of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) adopted in June 2019 in response to the European Citizens’ Initiative ‘Stop glyphosate’ (see EUROPE 12274/36, 12192/19).
The adoption of the Commission’s draft implementing measures is foreseen for the third quarter of 2020. All interested parties are invited to comment on the draft until midnight (Brussels time) on 28 August.
This regulation dating from June 2019 reformed general European food law, introducing new rules concerning in particular: - advice for applicants requesting marketing authorisation; - studies commissioned by industry and supported by EFSA; - public consultations on scientific studies; - public disclosure of applications and supporting scientific studies/data; - confidentiality; - standard data formats.
