06/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – The EU is set to soon recall the importance of defending multilateralism and a “strong and effective United Nations at the service of all”. According to draft EU Council conclusions entitled ‘EU priorities at the United Nations and the 75th United Nations General Assembly, September 2020-September 2021’, the time has come “to innovate and strengthen the multilateral system for the ‘future we want, the UN we need’, based on trust, shared values and common interests”. Other priorities include human rights and gender equality, peace and security, equitable globalisation, accelerating the global transition to a sustainable, climate-neutral future and a new digital world. The draft will be discussed on Tuesday by the Ambassadors of the Member States of the Political and Security Committee and could be approved on Wednesday by those of the Standing Committee. https://bit.ly/31OGOgd (CG)
