On Tuesday 30 June, the German authorities published the political programme they will apply during their six-month Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which begins on Wednesday 1 July.
Entitled 'Together for Europe's Recovery' programme has six major strands: - Europe's response to the Covid-19 pandemic ; - a stronger and more innovative Europe ; - a fair Europe; - a sustainable Europe ; - a Europe of security and common values ; - an effective European Union for a rules-based international order anchored in partnership.
Due to the pandemic, the traditional press trip to the country beginning its Presidency of the EU Council, which EUROPE will attend, will this time take place by videoconference, from Wednesday 1 to Friday 3 July. German Chancellor Angela Merkel and eight ministers will attend.
