26/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – As expected, the EU27 adopted by written procedure on the evening of Thursday 25 June their conclusions reflecting the state of play in the negotiations with the United Kingdom on the future relationship with that country. These conclusions (https://bit.ly/3dAAyei ) were prepared in the wake of the General Affairs Council of 16 June, which was taking stock at mid-term (see EUROPE 12512/19). They recall Member States’ confidence in the mandate given to the negotiator Michel Barnier and welcome the forthcoming intensification of the talks where progress has so far been “limited”. The Council of the EU also asks the Commission to keep it duly informed during these new negotiating rounds, the next of which will open on Monday 29 June, and calls on all actors concerned to intensify their preparations for all scenarios, including the scenario of no agreement.
