26/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – The Commission announced, on Friday 26 June, that it is mobilising €97.2 million for cooperation programmes in the Horn of Africa funded by the EU Emergency Trust Fund for Africa. They will aim to support the creation of job opportunities, public finance management, and access to education for vulnerable groups, in particular refugees and displaced persons, the Commission says. The bulk of the package - €65 million - is earmarked for Sudan. Almost €20 million will be allocated to Eritrea, €5 million to South Sudan and €2.5 million to Rwanda. The total contribution of the EU and its Member States pledged the day before the International Partnership Conference with Sudan is $867 million (€770 million) in development and humanitarian aid, including 312.55 million from the Commission (see EUROPE 12514/21).
