On 23 June, the European Commission launched a public consultation, open until 11 August, on the new strategy it is preparing in order to update EU consumer policy.
This initiative will take the form of a statement detailing the new Agenda for consumers.
Scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2020, it was announced for November by Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders (see EUROPE 12502/7).
This new programme will seek to address the new challenges posed by digitisation and the growing importance of environmental issues, as well as protecting vulnerable consumers from the new economic realities arising from the Covid-19 crisis.
This initiative will include changes to EU legislation in areas such as consumer information on goods and services, consumer credit, and product safety.
Comments and suggestions from parties concerned are expected by midnight Brussels time on 11 August.
