16/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission's Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) announced on Tuesday 16 June that Germany, Denmark, Croatia, Slovakia and Latvia had in turn completed the transposition of the directives on railway safety and the interoperability of the rail system contained in the fourth railway package (2016/797 and 2016/798). The deadline for transposition was initially set at this date. However, an extension, requested by States in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic (see EUROPE 12477/5), entered into force on 28 May (see EUROPE 12492/6). The 12 countries that have not yet transposed these directives into national law therefore still have until 31 October 2020 to do so. (AC)
