11/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Thursday 11 June that New Zealand and Singapore have decided to join the International Platform on Sustainable Finance. The purpose of the International Platform on Sustainable Finance, which was launched by the EU, Argentina, Canada, Chile, China, India, Kenya, and Morocco in October 2019, is to strengthen international cooperation and find better ways to coordinate the approaches taken by the different countries involved, in order to increase the participation of private capital in ‘green’ investments (see EUROPE 12352/18). Following the announcements in March by Switzerland, Indonesia and Norway (see EUROPE 12455/34) that they would like to join the Platform, 12 countries are now working with the EU on initiatives such as taxonomies, standards, labels and disclosures to help investors identify ‘green’ investments.
