Germany finally adopts its national energy/climate plan

11/06/2020 (Agence Europe)Germany finally adopted its National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) on Wednesday, 10 June. The German authorities are thus expected to submit it to the European Commission very soon, even though the deadline that the institution set for NECP submissions (31 December 2019) passed approximately 6 months ago. Since Luxembourg recently adopted and submitted its NECP (see EUROPE 12491/36), Ireland is the last Member State to have not yet adopted its NECP. It should also be noted that, on the same day, Germany adopted its national hydrogen strategy, with the aim to become the world leader in this sector by increasing German hydrogen production capacity to 5 GW by 2030 and 10 GW by 2040.
