28/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Trade Union Confederation and several trade union organisations at European level (EAEA, EFBWW, EFFAT, EFJ, EPSU, ETF, ETUCE, EUROPCOP, IndustriAll, UniEuropa) are calling on the European Commission to ensure that Covid-19 is recognised as an occupational disease, in a letter sent to the Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, Nicolas Schmit, on Monday 27 April. To this end, they call for a review of Recommendation 2003/670/EC concerning the European Schedule of Occupational Diseases. “Revising the Recommendation will be a first step towards showing workers the respect they deserve”, the unions said on the occasion of the Workers’ Memorial Day on 28 April.
