28/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – As part of the work to prepare the proposal on the Recovery Fund and a revised draft Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2021-2027 (see EUROPE 12473/1 and 12474/1), “we’re looking at how this massive fiscal and monetary stimulus [...] can also facilitate the transition to the green and digital economies”, said European Commission Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis in response to a question from EUROPE on the possibility of imposing conditions on the granting of financial support to banks and companies. He went on to say, “Of course, we’ll need to find the right balance, because we’ll also need to deal in the immediate post-crisis context with bread-and-butter issues. People will need income, jobs, and we’ll need an inclusive recovery that does not come at the expense of the poorest people and regions”. (MB)
