On Thursday 9 April, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) gave the green light to additional deadlines for the publication of annual and half-yearly reports by investment fund managers in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement, it acknowledged the difficulties encountered by fund managers in preparing reports, including the difficulty of completing audits on time due to the coronavirus crisis.
ESMA therefore calls on the competent national authorities “not to prioritise supervisory actions against these market participants in respect of the upcoming deadlines set out in the UCITS Directive, the AIFMD, the EuSEF Regulation and the EuVECA Regulation”.
If the fiscal year ended after 31 December 2019 and before 1st April, the fund managers will have two months to submit their annual reports. Those whose fiscal year ended after 1stApril and before 1st May will be given an additional month.
