09/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – The spokesman for the European External Action Service described the bombing of medical facilities in Libya, including the Al Khadra General Hospital in Tripoli, on Wednesday 8 April as "unacceptable" and "even more deplorable at a moment when Libya is facing the difficult circumstances around the coronavirus crisis and should be united in containing the outbreak". The bombing must stop, he demanded in a statement, adding that all parties should respect their obligations under international humanitarian law and protect the most vulnerable people, health personnel and critical medical infrastructure. "We urge all relevant Libyan actors to immediately stop the fighting, commit to a total ceasefire and return to political negotiations", he insisted (see EUROPE 12457/23). (CG)
