31/03/2020 (Agence Europe) – As 'presidential and parliamentary elections' were being held on 31 March in Nagorno-Karabakh, the spokesperson for the European External Action Service noted on the same day that the EU did not recognise the constitutional and legal framework within which they were taking place. “This event cannot prejudice the determination of the future status of Nagorno-Karabakh or the outcome of the ongoing negotiation process”, it warned in a statement. The spokesperson reiterated the EU's firm support for the OSCE Minsk Group and, in particular, the efforts of its Co-Chairs to ensure progress beyond the status quo and that substantive negotiations be held. “The EU stands ready to further support efforts, aimed at early, peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.”, he added.
