31/03/2020 (Agence Europe) – In a press release published on Tuesday, 31 March, the European Disability Forum (EDF) voices its concern about the conditions prevailing in residential and psychiatric institutions during the COVID-19 epidemic. According to the European association, approximately one million persons with disabilities are reportedly living in isolation at present, facing an increased risk of infection by COVID-19, physical and psychological abuse, and even abandonment. In particular, the organisation calls on the European Union to provide Member States lacking personal protection kits with the tools and materials that they need to prevent the infection from spreading in these institutions. The organisation insists that this equipment should also be intended for staff who work with persons with disabilities. For more information: https://bit.ly/3bLhw4x (PH)
