17/03/2020 (Agence Europe) – The Chairwoman of the Committee on Culture and Education calls on the European Union to help the education and cultural sectors, in order to mitigate the impact of measures related to COVID-19. Sabine Verheyen (EPP, Germany) said that every effort should be made to help citizens participating in an EU mobility programme, such as Erasmus+ or the Solidarity Corps. “The EU has a duty to them”, says the MEP, who calls for e-learning solutions and for facilitating the return of these people when they want to and can. Ms Verheyen also urges the European Commission to support the creative sector, which, like the catering sector, is affected by the crisis and should therefore “receive the same level of support”.
