18/02/2020 (Agence Europe) – Six meetings and still no single solution. This is how you could very well summarise the work of the stakeholder dialogue on the Copyright Directive, which was set up to clarify the modalities of Article 17 (filtering measures) on the new Directive, due to be applied by 7 June 2021 at the latest. In this context, the European Commission has chosen to convene a new meeting on 30 March “where we will have greater clarity on the guidance pertaining to Article 17 and will launch a written consultation of stakeholders immediately afterwards”, indicated the Commission departments on Twitter. The directive provides that, on the basis of the stakeholder dialogue, the Commission shall publish guidelines, in particular on cooperation between right-holders and service providers. (SPj)
