As a result of Brexit, new MEPs officially took office on Saturday 1 February, the day after the British left the European Union.
Of the 73 seats left vacant by the United Kingdom, only 27 have been redistributed (see EUROPE 12040/5).
It is the Renew Europe Group that will get the largest number of MEPs: six in total. They are the Danish Linea Sǿgaard-Lidell, the Irish Barry Andrews, the Spanish Adrián Vázquez Lázara, the Italian elected in France Sandro Gozi, the French Ilana Cicurel and the Dutch Bart Groothuis.
Five MEPs are likely to join the EPP: Estonia's Riho Terras, Ireland's Deirdre Clune, Spain's Gabriel Mato Adrover, Italy's Salvatore De Meo and Slovakia's Miriam Lexmann.
The Greens/EFA group announced in a press release that it was preparing to welcome four new members: Frenchman Claude Gruffat, Austrian Thomas Waitz, Finnish Alviina Alametsä and Swedish Jakop Dalunde.
Four MEPs are also expected to join the S&D: Spain's Marcos Ros Sempere, France's Nora Mebarek, Croatia's Romana Jerkovic and Romania's Victor Negrescu.
The ECR Group announced the arrival of the Spanish Margarita de la Pisa, the Italian Sergio Berlato and the Polish Dominik Tarczyński.
ID, finally, confirmed that it would be joined by Frenchman Jean-Lin Lacapelle, Italian Vincenzo Sofo and Dutchman Marcel de Graaff.
At the moment, there are still two unknowns in the equation: they concern a Dutch Member of Parliament and the Catalan Member of Parliament Clara Ponsatí.
