09/12/2019 (Agence Europe) – The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, emphasised on Monday 9 December that all participants in the Joint Commission on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action of 6 December (France, Germany, United Kingdom, China and Russia, i.e. E3+2 and Iran) had stressed their commitment to preserving the agreement. “Maintaining this agreement is a collective responsibility”, he said, warning that if Iran continued its actions, “it would not be sustainable”. On 6 June, the E3+2 had “strongly encouraged” Tehran to “take all the necessary steps towards full implementation of its nuclear commitments and to avoid further escalatory steps”, according to the Chair of the Joint Commission. Participants also welcomed diplomatic efforts to defuse tensions, adding that everyone must be flexible enough to allow these efforts to bear fruit. (CG)
