22/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – The draft statement of the Council of the EU and the European Commission (see EUROPE 12361/5) on the dangers of ‘stablecoin’ is ready to go. It will be submitted to the Member States' ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) on Wednesday 27 November, before being formally adopted by the European Finance Ministers on 5 December. The draft text, dated 21 November, contains no substantive differences from the version presented at the Ecofin Council on 8 November (see EUROPE 12365/4). Thus, the main message that no global cryptocurrency could operate in the European Union until legal, regulatory and prudential challenges and risks have been identified and adequately addressed is maintained. According to our information, the text would be stable and no points would be left open. See the text: http://bit.ly/35qUf4x (MF)
