19/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – Discussions to appoint the next Chair of the European Parliament's Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) were continuing within the EPP Group, according to our information, on Tuesday 19 November. According to the d'Hondt rule, after Adina-Ioana Vălean's departure for the post of Transport Commissioner, the Presidency should be held by a member of the Romanian EPP delegation. Two names have emerged at this point: Marian-Jean Marinescu (coordinator in the Committee on Transport and Tourism and substitute in the ITRE Committee) and Cristian-Silviu Buşoi (currently Vice-President in the Environment Committee). The first reportedly indicated that he was not interested, but doubts remain. He may want to remain coordinator and acquire the Presidency. (PH)
