19/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – In a letter sent to the interim chair of the European Parliament Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) on Tuesday, 19 November, Elżbieta Bieńkowska, the Commissioner for the Internal Market and Industry, confirmed that her service intends to present an action plan to implement the recommendations made by the Inquiry Board into the blackout suffered by Galileo in the summer. The letter says that the action plan, which has been prepared with the help of the GSA agency and the support of the European Space Agency, is expected to be presented to Member States in December. In the letter, the Commissioner gives an assurance that the European Commission's priority is “continuity” of the Galileo programme, and offers to keep the ITRE Committee informed about implementation of the recommendations. The report, which EUROPE has seen, is very critical of triangular governance, because the unclear chain of command leads to “dilution” of tasks and responsibilities (see EUROPE 12370/2). (PH)
