04/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – The Chair of the European Parliament's delegation for relations with Palestine, Manu Pineda (GUE/NGL, Spain), on Monday 4 November, urged the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and EU Member States "to act on the case of Khalida Jarrar and to put pressure on Israel to put an end to the practice of so-called administrative detention". This former Palestinian member of parliament, who is an activist for Palestinian prisoners, was arrested by Israeli forces on 31 October. "We call on the Israeli authorities to release Khalida Jarrar immediately, unless justifications for her arrest exist, in this case her fundamental right to due process - including access to a lawyer - must be respected", Mr Pineda added in his statement.
