04/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Saturday 2 November, the EU expressed its solidarity with Mali in the aftermath of a deadly terrorist attack in Indelimane, in the northeast of the country, which killed at least 53 soldiers from Mali’s armed forces and one civilian. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack. “Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones. The European Union stands with the Malian government and people to oppose this serious violence”, said the spokeswoman for the European External Action Service. The EU affirmed that it will continue its commitment “in support of Mali, in order to enable countries to restore the full authority of the State throughout its territory and to ensure its development and the prosperity of its citizens” and recalled that “the stability of Mali and more broadly the Sahel is a priority for the EU”.
