29/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday, 29 October, the spokesperson for the European External Action Service, Maja Kocijancic reiterated that the Prespa Agreement, which notably resolved the dispute with Greece over the definitive name of North Macedonia, is “a historic achievement that is a positive example not only for the region but also for Europe and beyond”. We believe that the authorities on both sides will “continue to implement this agreement in good faith”, she added after outgoing Prime Minister of North Macedonia Zoran Zaev deemed the Prespa agreement to be in danger. In response to the European Council’s deadlock on opening negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania for accession to the EU, early parliamentary elections were held in the spring (see EUROPE 12353/15).
