29/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Court of Auditors launched an audit on Tuesday 29 October to assess the effectiveness of the measures taken by the Commission to establish a Capital Markets Union in the EU. "Although the direct impact of the project remains to be seen, it is time to assess its effectiveness and the progress made so far", said Rimantas Šadžius, the Member of the European Court of Auditors responsible for the audit. The auditors will examine, in particular, whether the Commission has achieved its objective of increasing the diversification of funding sources for European companies, whether it has proposed measures to foster more integrated and deeper capital markets and whether it is implementing the CMU in such a way that the planned measures benefit businesses and domestic capital markets.
