EU Council adopts Regulation on emergency measures in event of a no-deal Brexit

24/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – The EU Council of Ministers adopted without debate on Thursday 24 October the Regulation on fishing authorisations for EU vessels in UK waters and fishing operations by UK vessels in EU waters. These are the emergency measures to be applied in this sector during 2020, in the event of a disorderly exit of the United Kingdom from the EU. The European Parliament endorsed this text on 22 October (see EUROPE 12354/16). In addition, the EU Council adopted without debate on the same day the legislative acts on the new EU/São Tomé and Príncipe Fisheries Agreement (see EUROPE 12317/7). (LC)
