24/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – The latest monthly report on agri-food trade, published on Thursday 24 October, shows that the EU's trade surplus (in August 2019) for agri-food products stood at €2.93 billion, a 29% increase compared to August 2018. The value of agri-food exports in August rose by 5.6% to €12.07 billion, while monthly imports fell by 0.2% to €9.14 billion. The largest increases (in exports) were to China, the United States and Japan. The most efficient sectors in August 2019 were wheat, pork, spirits and liqueurs, and cheese.
