21/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – American telecommunications companies would be interested in Huawei's proposal to sell them its 5th generation technology (see EUROPE 12331/7). This was stated by the president of the Chinese supplier for Western Europe, Vincent Pang, on 18 October at Reuters Agency, but he refused to name or quantify these companies. Last September, Huawei's founder offered Western companies to buy 5G patents, licences, code, technical plans and production know-how from the Chinese company to overcome the White House's fears of espionage. According to Vincent Pang, several companies would be interested "in a long-term agreement or a one-off transfer". When asked about this question at Huawei Connect, Ernest Worthman, an honourable member of the IEEE Association, reacted cautiously, doubting that Huawei would give access to their "special algorithms" to accelerate acquisition.
