21/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Monday 21 October that it has approved, in accordance with EU State Aid rules, Poland's project to support the construction of a highly efficient municipal waste treatment facility located in Gdańsk. Port Czystej Energii Sp. z o.o. (“PCE”), a municipally owned company, will benefit from Polish aid. The project will be organised as a public-private partnership between PCE and private partners selected through a competitive process. The Commission found that the aid would contribute to the EU's energy and environmental objectives without unduly distorting competition in the Single Market: cogeneration, disposal of municipal waste through the incineration of 160 000 tonnes of waste, reduction of fossil fuels.
