15/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – The proposal for country by country reporting will be on the agenda of the EU Council's Working Party on Company Law on 25 October. The Finnish Presidency has indeed committed itself (see EUROPE 12319/8) to trying to move the matter forward. The objective is to “to get an updated view on the Council’s position”, a Presidency expert told us on Tuesday 15 October, refusing, however, to speculate on the outcome of the meeting. In September, Germany's change of position on this issue (see EUROPE 12328/26) revived hopes that negotiations could be relaunched. But, according to another source, there would be no change to note or new text and the Presidency's objective would be to check whether the blocking in the EU Council will continue (see EUROPE 12179/21) on the issue of the legal basis.
