15/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – The future of disaster risk financing in Africa will be the subject of a high-level discussion on 17 October in Washington, D.C., at the annual meeting of the World Bank (WB) at the suggestion of Germany and the United Kingdom and in collaboration with African Risk Capacity (ARC). Representatives from governments, international institutions, and experts will discuss ways to strengthen financial resilience to natural disaster risks in Africa; cooperation among the WB, ARC, and the African Development Bank; and ways to develop effective frameworks for climate and disaster risk management. The Climate Action Summit in New York had emphasised the need to create an environment conducive to collaboration so as to support risk financing solutions by strengthening resilience and protecting development gains.
