30/09/2019 (Agence Europe) – Several MEPs from the European Parliament's Committee on International Trade – Iuliu Winkler (EPP, Romania), Inmaculada Rodríguez-Piñero (S&D, Spain), Marie-Pierre Vedrenne (Renew Europe, France), Reinhard Bütikofer (Greens/EFA, Germany) and Helmut Scholz (GUE/NGL, Germany) – have launched a transparent initiative to create an intergroup entitled ‘Fair Competition in International Trade and Investment’. Envisaged as a common platform for MPs and stakeholders, its activities will include, among others: – the exchange of information on trade barriers; – the study of the impact of EU trade policy on certain economic sectors; – contributing to the effective implementation of free trade agreements. An invitation was sent to the political groups (except ID) to collect supporting signatures. The initiative will also have to be supported by the Conference of Presidents of the political groups when the list of intergroups is adopted at the end of 2019. (HD)
