The European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) announced on Friday 27 September that it has closed its investigation into certain expenses of Poland's candidate for membership of the new European Commission, Janusz Wojciechowski.
The Commissioner-designate for Agriculture was under investigation by OLAF for "alleged irregularities concerning the reimbursement of travel expenses" when he was an MEP.
"OLAF concluded the case with Recommendations to the European Parliament for both the recovery of 11,243 euros from Mr Wojciechowski and to further strengthen the administrative rules relating to the reimbursement of travel expenses and payment of subsistence allowances", says the office, which launched the investigation in July 2016, in a statement.
OLAF states that it has not made any disciplinary or judicial recommendations concerning Mr Wojciechowski, who is currently a Member of the European Court of Auditors. The amount has already been repaid in full to the European Parliament by the person concerned.
