The European Parliament's rapporteurs on the legislative texts for the next Multiannual Financial Framework are now known, following a meeting of the coordinators of the Committee on Regional Development (REGI) on Tuesday 3 September. The names remain essentially the same as in the previous Parliament, with most of the rapporteurs having been re-elected.
"In particular, we have decided, for the various reports to be submitted for negotiation, to renew the rapporteurs and co-rapporteurs for those members who have been re-elected and, for those members who have not been re-elected, to replace them while respecting the political balances that were found at the time", said the Chairman of the REGI Committee, Younous Omarjee (GUE/NGL).
Thus, the Common Provisions Regulation will remain in the hands of Constanze Krehl (S&D, Germany) and Andrey Novakov (EPP, Bulgaria). The text was abruptly blocked during the interinstitutional negotiations earlier this year (see EUROPE 12212/15).
Andrea Cozzolino (S&D, Italy) is therefore expected to start negotiations with the EU Council on the regulation on the European Regional Development Fund and the Cohesion Fund (see EUROPE 12224/8). The 'Interreg' regulation will remain under the leadership of the Belgian Pascal Arimont (EPP), who is expected to start interinstitutional negotiations shortly (see EUROPE 12222/20).
Only the liberal Matthijs van Miltenburg (Netherlands), rapporteur on the regulation on the cross-border mechanism (see EUROPE 12195/23), is absent from the new European Parliament. Renew Europe has yet to appoint a new rapporteur for this dossier. (Original version in French by Pascal Hansens)
