04/09/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), Eurelectric and Transport & Environment issued for the first time a joint statement on Wednesday 4 September, in which they called on the European institutions to “facilitate a rapid roll-out of smart charging infrastructure for electrically-chargeable vehicles”. The three organizations are asking legislators to ensure the “right to plug”. In particular, they call for a revision of Directive 2014/94 on the deployment of infrastructure for alternative fuels, Directive 2018/844 on the energy performance of buildings, the correct implementation of Regulation 2018/1999 on the governance of the Energy Union, and finally, the best possible direction for financing the Connected Europe Facility (CEF) to ensure that the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) is equipped with fast charging stations as soon as possible.
