04/09/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 4 September, the Renew Europe Group in the European Parliament welcomed the decision by Hong Kong's leader Carrie Lam earlier in the day to withdraw a draft law on extradition that led to the demonstrations. For Dacian Cioloș, President of the group in Parliament, “the Hong Kong Government must now immediately release and drop all charges against peaceful protesters”. He also called for an “independent, impartial investigation into the use of force against democracy campaigners”. “The authorities of Hong Kong have finally heard the (...) completely justified demand of their population. With the support of the presidency of the People's Republic of China (...), a real dialogue must now be opened in order to build a future of liberty, harmony and stability”, said Bernard Guetta (France).
