EU cow's milk collection increased by 0.2% in first half of 2019

EU cow's milk collection increased by 0.2% in the first half of 2019 compared to the same period in 2018, according to the latest information published on Monday 2 September by the European Milk Market Observatory.

In June 2019, deliveries in the EU fell by 0.3%. Ireland (+7.5%, +72,000 tonnes) and the United Kingdom recorded the largest increase in production, while Germany (-2.3%, -64,000 tonnes) and the Netherlands were the countries where collection fell the most. The weighted EU average farm gate price of milk decreased from 1% in June 2019 to 33.5 cents per kg (still 3.7% higher than in June 2018 and 5.6% higher than the average of the last five years). Member States' estimates show a slight increase in milk prices in July (+0.7%).
