02/09/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European External Action Service spokeswoman denounced on Monday 2 September the coalition's air strike on a detention centre run by the Houthis rebels the day before in Dhamar province in south-west Yemen, which reportedly killed more than 100 people. “This attack, which comes against the backdrop of an alarming new escalation of fighting across the country, is fuelling regional tensions and further compromising the prospects for ending the suffering of millions of Yemenis”, it said in a statement, reaffirming the need for full respect for international humanitarian law and human rights, in particular the protection of civilians. “The EU expects all parties to the conflict to work constructively with the UN Special Envoy on the full implementation of the Stockholm Agreement”, it warned.
