03/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 3 July, the EEAS spokesperson denounced the restrictions imposed by Russia on Georgia. "We consider the Russian decision to ban flights to Georgia as of 8 July unjustified and disproportionate", she said in a statement. In addition, the restrictions imposed on the two Abkhaz administrative border crossing points since 27 June must be lifted, as they "severely affect freedom of movement and cause further difficulties for the conflict affected population". "The round of the Geneva International Discussions that started (on 3 July) should be used effectively to lower tensions and to alleviate the situation of the affected population", she argued. Tensions have increased in recent days, due to anti-Russian demonstrations in Georgia (see EUROPE 12281/28). (CG)
