03/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – The President of the European Parliament's Renew Europe Group, Romanian Dacian Ciolos, supported Romanian candidate Laura Codruţa Kövesi as head of the European Public Prosecutor's Office on Wednesday 3 July. According to him, his appointment would allow a geographical rebalancing of senior European functions, whereas the day before, the European Council had nominated four candidates from Western Europe. “Following the EU Council's decision, we have an additional argument in support of Ms Kövesi's application, chosen according to the professional selection criteria. We have all the arguments in place and we can add the geographical criterion”, he added. According to him, France, which has its candidate, Jean-François Bohnert, is “aware of our arguments. I am confident that we will find a solution that will allow us to make a choice as quickly as possible”, he added. (CG)
