24/05/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) intends to work on internet-connected cars over the next two years. This was announced on Friday 24 May, in response to a letter from MEP Sophie In't Veld (ALDE), which was also addressed to the European Commission. In this letter, the Dutchwoman expressed concern that much personal data related to connected mobility are shared “without explicit, specific and informed consent, and without an adequate legal basis”. In its response, the EDPB refers to the work of the International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners and the former independent European advisory body on data protection and privacy, known as 'Article 29', both dating back to 2017. It states that this theme is part of its 2019/2020 work schedule. (SPj)
