23/05/2019 (Agence Europe) – At a trilateral ministerial meeting in Paris on Thursday 23 May, EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström met with her counterparts from the United States and Japan to discuss the process of reforming the World Trade Organization (WTO) (see EUROPE 12169/18). The statement issued at the end of the meeting highlights progress in addressing non-market policies and practices. In the coming months, the parties undertake to continue this work, as well as to continue the revision of multilateral rules in order to better address illegal subsidies and forced technology transfers. Ministers also underlined their commitment to negotiate an ambitious plurilateral agreement on digital trade, with the participation of as many of the Organization's members as possible.
