16/05/2019 (Agence Europe) – In a statement issued on Wednesday, 15 May, the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) welcomed the ruling of the European Court of Justice (CJEU) requiring employers to create a system to measure daily working time (case C-55/18) (see EUROPE 12254/22). For the unions, this ruling “should end the widespread practice of unpaid overtime”. This is very good news, as Confederal Secretary Esther Lynch pointed out. She now expects Member States to review national legislation and practices on verifying working time with social partners. To read the ruling: https://bit.ly/2HlaBCp (PH)
