16/05/2019 (Agence Europe)An international police operation has dismantled a complex, globally functioning and well-organised cybercrime network, announced Thursday, 16 May, the European police agency Europol alongside the FBI representative in Pittsburgh, who initiated the operation. The criminal network used the GozNym malware, developed between Georgia, Russia and Kazakhstan. It stole $100 million and harmed more than 41,000 entities, mainly businesses and financial institutions, but also NGOs. GozNym malware was designed to capture victims' online banking connection information. International cooperation has involved Bulgaria, Germany, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and the United States.
